Web Application Developer / Programmer

Job Description: Support and enhance e-commerce web site using COM (VB6), SQL, JavaScript and other web technologies including .NET (C#). Work with other members of the application development team to design and implement enhancements to our web applications. Work with network administrators, systems analysts, and data base administrators to assist in resolving problems with software products or company software systems. Assist in the definition, development, and documentation of software, business requirements, objectives, deliverables, and specifications on a project-by-project basis in collaboration with internal users and departments. Provide ongoing maintenance and support for applications within area of responsibility. Be available to provide off hours production support. Successfully work independently and simultaneously manage multiple assignments. Work in an efficient manner resulting in low defect, high quality software that fulfills the specified business requirements. Confer with management and personnel of other departments affected to resolve identified issues. Remain current with emerging technologies. Present subjects/issues clearly to all technical and non-technical audiences. Provide regular communication to management on programming assignment issues and status. Coordinate production implementation efforts with affected technical staff responsible for implementing associated deliverables. Opportunity to learn .NET (C#) as we migrate our applications to the new technologies.

Qualifications: 4+ years of progressive programming experience. Extensive experience with VB6, SQL and HTML MCAD or MCSD a plus Experience working with JavaScript a plus Experience working with databases. Experience working with source code control, production control and issue tracking systems Experience working on a Microsoft Windows platform Proficiency in Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook are essential Working knowledge of current Internet technologies Some knowledge of Property and Casualty insurance is a plus. Requires excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, organizational and time management skills with a team-oriented approach Analytical and problem-solving abilities Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related discipline or equivalent related work experience. Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
