Java Developer

· Develop high quality Java/J2EE services and components for various lines of business · Develop and unit test source code as part of a functional team · Manage source code branching and merging using CVS · Optimize and tune newly developed and preexisting code · Thoroughly document code and use cases · Track individual progress on assigned project work, providing concise overall status reports · Work with other team members to drive technical requirement documentation · Troubleshooting critical production issues as needed after escalation from the Application Engineer team · Communicate with and mentor others to enhance IT's ability to effectively develop Java/J2EE services

Basic: Qualifications:

· Minimum 4 years development experience in a Java/J2EE environment · 2+ years experience building Web Services based on Java/J2EE technology (consumer and provider) · In-depth knowledge of XML parsing, binding and schemas · Experience creating applications utilizing JMS · Overall familiarity and experience with Object Oriented design and development · Basic working knowledge of SQL (prefer Oracle) · Educational background in Computer Science and/or Computer Engineering · Self-driven, ambitious, willing to effect change and drive the service development to new levels of functionality and performance. · Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills · Must be able to work with a team; must be able to work individually. · Strong communication skills · Comfortable multitasking and managing priorities · Ability to work with a range of people with both technical and non-technical backgrounds · Positive attitude, execution focused · Strategic thinking ability, needs to plan for the future needs of the business

Preferred:

· WebSphere Application Server experience · WebSphere MQ or similar messaging experience · JCA/J2C experience · Exposure to JMX · Worked with Apache, Struts and other Jakarta projects · Experience with IBM Process Server · Exposure to BPEL and process choreographing · UNIX skills · Spring and Hibernate experience · Basic experience interacting with IBM mainframe (ISPF, viewing logs) · ISPF and Rexx experience · Experience automating software processes with Ant · Familiar with ACORD XML
