Sr. Software Administrator

Responsibilities: 1. Provide technical guidance and training to Software Administrators. 2. Install and maintain back-end software in development, test, and production environments using UOL developed or 3rd party tools. 3. Perform steps using established procedures to ensure that back-end software and computers have high integrity/reliability. 4. Troubleshoot problems in production and test environments and make recommendations to management and/or implement appropriate fixes. 5. Develop tools, with the appropriate scripting languages, to monitor/test the software environment and deploy them into production. Make appropriate recommendations to management of adjustments according to the monitoring findings. 6. Administer and maintain CVS repositories and user accounts.

Qualifications: 1. Bachelors’ in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience. 2. 3+ years experience in software or systems administration. 3. Experience in mentoring Software or System Administrators and providing technical guidance. 4. Experience working with Unix system administration in Linux and Sun Solaris environments. 5. Web server administration with Apache, Jserv, Tomcat installation and configuration experience. 6. CVS administration background. 7. CGI programming development experience. 8. Strong knowledge of Perl or other Unix scripting languages. 9. Experience working with HTML or JavaScript development. 10. Experience working with Java or C++ development. 11. Understanding of the latest client/server and internet related architectures. 12. Proven ability to solve production/operations problems and keep a 24/7 environment running. 13. Oracle or any database administration background.
