Software Engineer
Description:
As a Software Engineer, you will:
- Report to the Development Manager
- Develop Java code; Participate in structured code reviews; and, Build and execute unit and system test cases.
- Apply best-practice Java design and development patterns in new development
- Use the latest J2EE concepts and platforms
- Contribute to design strategies based on functional specifications
- Contribute to new software API Research and Proof-of-Concept
- Contribute to Logical/Physical Data Model
- Contribute to Ensuring Adherence to all the SDLC/MQC Phases, Deliverables and Standards
- Contribute to the Software Requirements Specification Deliverable
Qualifications:
Requirements:
- Desire two or more years experience:
-Developing in Java/J2EE systems and open source technologies;
-Developing systems using software development methodologies;
-Designing and developing on Oracle Application Server or Web Logic Server;
-Using Oracle Database technologies;
-Proficient in SQL;
-Using a Java IDE such as IntelliJ; and,
-Developing on Windows, Linux or UNIX platforms
- Prefer experience with one or more of the following:
-Software configuration management tool, such as Perforce or CVS
-Struts
-Toplink
-ANT
-Certification as a Sun Certified Business Component Developer (SCBCD), Sun Certified Developer for Java Web Services (SCDJWS) or Sun Certified Web Component Developer (SCWCD)
- Excellent problem solving skills with ability to follow project standards and procedures
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of Insurance or Securities industry preferred
- BS/BA degree in Computer Science or related degree
