Infrastructure Systems Engineer
* Audit routinely and analyze the existing systems to keep them up-to-date with low latency and high-end operating requirements
* Performance tuning and system analysis at all levels, especially Solaris-10 and Linux kernel level tuning
* Storage system throughput analysis, hardware performance benchmarking, and trading applications latency measurement
* Develop prototypes to demonstrate proposed functionality enhancement
* Interact with customers and vendors to troubleshoot 3rd level problems
* Benchmark next generation hardware and software and conduct feasibility studies for application on existing system
* Performs data analysis and relief sizing and timing for computing platforms growth
* Design and Implement solution under strong system security constraints
* Looks for new technology and interacts with vendors on new products
* Installation and customization of open source software and productivity software to facilitate all the above goals
* Willingness and ability to teach and train others
* CS degree in Computer Science
* A minimum of 7 years of UNIX System engineering and/or experience with architecting trading solutions and designing trading systems components
* Strong analytical skills demonstrated by professional experience
* Should not only know the technology, but MUST be able to articulate such knowledge
* Must have exposure to the project management role in an enterprise environment
* Must have previously worked in a financial environment and understand the workflow of a financial institution
* Must work well under sustained pressure
* Must be able to sustain a high rate of workflow and work on multiple projects
* Advanced understanding of UNIX Operating Systems (Solaris-10 and Linux: a MUST)
* Advanced knowledge of best practices pertaining to UNIX distributed systems in enterprise class environments
* Familiarity with FIX protocol a plus
* Advanced knowledge of market data and messaging (TIBCO RV, etc.)
* Broad Knowledge of Sun hardware and other key hardware vendor (HP, IBM, etc.)
* Deep knowledge of tools which assist in understanding of a machine's behavior and process tracing
* Knowledge of how to modify kernel and device driver behavior
* Demonstrated ability with UNIX Shell and another programming language (Java)
